Leaders Have Followers and Can Mobilize Them
A leader has a following and can mobilize them
Notice there is no mention of charisma, education, eloquence, gender, race, religion, age, background, or any other stereotype of what a leader "should" be. The only qualification is two fold:
- Do you have a following of people?
- Can you mobilize them?
In other words do you have a group of people that if called upon would support you by coming out for something important?
Leadership is a tricky thing since there are many false mental models of what a leader is. For CCOP and for the entire PICO network, a leader is as simple as someone who is willing to truly listen to the stories and pain of others, and someone who is willing to invite and bring those same people out to something that is important to all of them.
