Camden wins $7 million for home improvement
November 02, 2005
In follow-up to CCOP's July 18, 2005 Action meeting with state Treasurer John McCormac, a team of CCOP leaders has held a series of work sessions with state officials to develop the guidelines for a new Camden Home Improvement Program that will channel $7 million in home repair grants to approximately 250 Camden homeowners. The program will provide grants of up to $20,000 to approved applicants, with the bulk of the funding funding coming from the Economic Recovery Board which was created to disburse $175 million in new state resources included in the Camden recovery legislation enacted 3 years ago. CCOP's Chairman, Rev. Willie Anderson, responded to the good news by saying, "This program will provide concrete benefits from the recovery initiative to residents and neighborhoods all across the city."
