During the month of September, CCOP leaders met with current Governor Jon Corzine as well as hosted a Citywide Mayoral Forum. Being a Non-partisan organization CCOP does not endorse or support any candidate, and so when the opportunity to meet with another gubernatorial candidate presented itself CCOP leaders wanted to take the opportunity.
"We will take every chance we get to share publicly what the living conditions are like for our people in Camden," commented Reverend Willie Anderson, CCOP Chair and pastor of Sword of the Spirit Church. "The message tonight will be the same message we have stated all through the month of September; all of Camden's neighborhoods need basic city services."
CCOP has a long standing history of non-partisan civic engagement and a successful track record of meeting with public officials to lift-up the faith community's needs and concerns for their families and neighborhoods in Camden. Rosa Ramirez, CCOP leader and Camden resident added, "During election time, public officials want and need to hear from the community, and that is what we are doing. We are not asking for any promises or campaign speeches, we are simply lifting up what life is like for Camden residents."
