CCOP 25th Anniversary Fundraiser Breakfast
April 06, 2010
On behalf of our distinguished Breakfast Club Committee, I'm pleased to invite you to attend the 25th Anniversary Spring Fundraiser for Camden Churches Organized for People and to help celebrate CCOP's 25 years of organizing excellence.
This year's event will be held on Thursday, May 20th from 10:00 - 11:30AM at the Diamond Café at Camden's own River Shark Stadium Campbell's Field (401 N. Delaware Avenue, Camden, NJ 08102). We expect to have in attendance approximately 100 people representing businesses, corporations, government, faith-institutions, and a handful of special guests.
In the hot months of June 1985 a collection of congregations and neighborhood groups banned together to "Call Camden to life" by forming a covenant among faith communities to work together to transform the conditions for individuals and families in the city of Camden through the skillful development of local leaders, a disciplined organizing model rooted in the democratic process, and a profound commitment to the faith values our leaders and community share.
Since then CCOP has weathered the test of time working on issues as small as stolen sewer grates in Cramer Hill and as large as winning a 30% annual tax cut on CCMUA bills for all Camden residents, and a 7.5 million dollar Home Improvement Program. None of these successes however is more important than the work we do of empowering Camden residents, giving them the skills, practice, confidence, and knowledge to become active and powerful citizens in their communities.
If you are interested in contributing to CCOP's exciting work and attending this year's breakfast please call the CCOP office (856-966-8869) and talk with Jerri Flippen.
