CCOP Organizing Academy

TONIGHT, October 20th, 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Mt Olivet Church (800 Chelton Ave, Camden)

CCOP holds a series of monthly trainings every third Tuesday of the month, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm, at different member congregations. Throughout the year, we will explore readings, principles and practices at the core of effective community organizing. Those who attend 75% of the curriculum will graduate with a certificate from the CCOP Organizing Academy. In October, we will continue with the theme of action by continuing our conversation about acting for Community Benefits Agreements. Download the flier to share in your communities. 

Annual UU Racial Justice Conference

October 23 - October 25

The Joseph Priestley District invites you to the 12th annual racial justice conference, hosted by the UU Church in Cherry Hill in partnership with the UU Legislative Ministry of New Jersey. Come learn how a stronger racial & social justice partnerships help us to build Beloved Community and dismantle racism?  There are many ways our UU values can support  being an ally both at a personal and congregational level. Download the flier for more details.

Driving Without Fear Rally

DATE CHANGE: Monday, November 16th, in Trenton

After more than a year of working to pass legislation in favor of driver's licenses, we are ready to go to the State House to ask for a vote in the legislature. Join us while we travel to Trenton to be present for an Assembly Committee Hearing on A4425. We will have a rally in the morning, then enter the chambers to testify at the hearing to ensure that they know the importance of this bill to our families, while asking that legislators vote it out of committee the same day. You can plan on a full day commitment and we will travel by River Line together. We are still planning the day and, depending on the political environment, details could change. Therefore, it is important that you register to receive the most current information.

CAMBIO DE FECHA: el lunes, 16 de noviembre, en Trenton

Después de más de un año de trabajo para pasar legislación en favor de licencias de conducir, estamos listos para ir a la Casa del Estado para pedir una votación en la legislatura. Únete con nosotros mientras viajamos a Trenton para estar presente para la audiencia del comite en la asamblea en el propuesto A4425. Tendremos una manifestación por la mañana, después entraremos las cámaras para dar testigo durante la audiencia para asegurar que sepan la importancia de este proyecto de ley a nuestras familias, mientras pedimos una votacion en el comite. Puedes planear en un día completo de compromiso y viajaremos por River Line juntos. Todavía estamos planeando y, depende en el ambiente político, detalles podrían cambiar. Entonces, es importante que registras para recibir la información más actual.

Cooper Medical School of Rowan University

Simulated Patient

Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) is one of country’s newest medical schools. We use many innovative teaching methodologies as we educate our students to become the physicians of tomorrow. One of the teaching methodologies that we utilize is simulation.  We utilize people who pretend to be patients in order to teach our students how to interview and physically examine patients, as well as how to communicate and create a strong doctor-patient relationships. These pretend patients are called Simulated Patients. We are looking for a diverse group of people that represent the Camden population interested in doing this interesting, educational and rewarding work. The work is part-time, project based and paid. There is no medical testing, medications, needles or invasive physical exams involved at all. Pay is fairly competitive ($15 - $20 per hour) and hours are "as available."
